Mountain and Water First Aid (Casualty Care)
This is a 16hrs (2 day) emergency care course that is tailored to a mountain or water environment subject to requirements and no previous first aid experience is necessary.
This course is popular with outdoor instructors, professionals or outdoor centres. The course is based around remote or exposed UK environments and includes Emergency Action, Basic Life Support, Outdoor First Aid and Casualty Care including stabilising a casualty until a Rescue Team arrives.
This course is very poular and is recognised by MLTUK and vaildates the following outdoor qualifications:
WGL, ML, SPA, MIA, MIC, IML, IRATA, BCU and RYA
Day 1 covers all the basic skills needed to deal with a first aid incident in a safe and controlled manner.
Day 2 moves to the practical side with a strong emphasis on practical scenarios in the type of terrain you would be working in, utilising the kit that you should have on you. The course also covers group management. Realistic wound simulation is used on pretend casualties in the practical scenarios. We teach you how to double your first aid kit by using everyday items that you may have with you aside from your med kit.
This course is for those who regularly spend time in the outdoors and would like to have some extra knowledge of what to do when it goes wrong in a potentially remote location.
